The civilian government under the
Americans was inaugurated in Manila
|
Creates
the "Second Philippine Commission"
with William Howard Taft as first civil governor,
|
|
A position in which Taft was very
popular with both Americans and Filipinos.
|
|
Thereafter
the Philippine Commission became the sole legislative body for the Islands
until the inauguration of the Philippine Assembly on October 16, 1907.
