Ateneo Blue Eagles survived Far Eastern University, 88-84, in overtime to secure the last finals slot in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament Wednesday, 22 November 2017 at Mall of Asia Arena.
The first quarter ends with 21-15 in favor of Blue Eagles. Half-time closed at 40-33, a 7 point lead in favor again for the Blue Eagles.

As third quarter ends, Ateneo leads by four over FEU with the score of 57-53.

FEU had an eight-point, 67-59, lead midway through the fourth after Prince Orizu forced his way inside for a layup but Ateneo slowly cut it down and eventually tied the game at 69 with 3:41 left in regulation after Mike Nieto drilled a three-pointer. Isaac Go drills the clutch three for Ateneo to tie the game at 75 with 8.5 seconds remaining reaching its climax when the regulation time ended at 75-all.

Matt Nieto gave Ateneo an 82-80 lead with 1:30 left in overtime and unleashed a dagger three with 46.9 seconds left that gave the Blue Eagles the insurance, 85-80. Richard Escoto countered with a jumper (85-82). Isaac Go became the hero of the game as he went down on the floor but still managed to score his only two points in the overtime with 22.4 seconds remaining sealing the win for the Blue Eagles (87-82). Overtime final score is 87-84.

As per source from Philstar, "For the three, I just have to thank Coach Tab (Baldwin) because he believed in me…” the 6-foot-6 Isaac Go added. “He had more confidence in me than I had in myself.”

“After the game, all I could say was ‘Thank You,’” Go continued. “His belief in me and my teammates and the coaching staff helped me make that shot.”

Ateneo Blue Eagles will face the defending champions De La Salle Green Archers beginning Saturday.
