PAGASA Weather Update for today, 11 February 2018.

PAGASA: THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION OUTSIDE THE PHILIPPINE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (PAR) HAS INTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL STORM AND IS EXPECTED TO ENTER THE PAR TONIGHT. - ISSUED AT:5:00 PM, 11 February 2018.



Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm with international name "SANBA" was estimated based on all available data at 1,035 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (OUTSIDE PAR) (06.9 °N, 135.6 °E)

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph

Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 27 kph

Forecast Position: 24 Hour(Tomorrow afternoon) 430 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur(8.2°N, 130.2°E)

- The Tropical Storm with international name "SANBA" is expected to enter the PAR tonight and will be named "BASYANG".

 - Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail over the eastern section of Visayas and of Mindanao beginning tomorrow. Residents of these areas must continue monitoring for updates, undertake precautionary measures against possible flooding and landslides, and coordinate with their respective local disaster risk reduction and management offices.

 - Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and of Mindanao due to expected rough to very rough seas associated with the approaching Tropical Storm

Weather Forecast:  Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern Luzon issued  at:4:00 PM today, 11 February 2018.

Trough of TS will bring Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in Caraga and Davao Region. Impacts: Possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Northeast Monsoon will also bring Cloudy skies with scattered rains in Cagayan Valley Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and the province of Aurora.

Northeast Monsoon will bring Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains in Ilocos Region.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with  isolated rainshowers due to Localized thunderstorms. Impacts: Possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate with at times heavy rains.



La Niña will still bring much rainfall during the  first quarter of 2018.
