WEATHER ADVISORY: TROUGH OF A LOW PRESSURE AREA (JANUARY 27-28)

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration weather advisory - "tracking the sky helping the country".

SYNOPSIS: At 4:00 Pm today, A Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at115kmSoutheast of General Santos City (5.5N, 126.0E). Tail-end of a Cold Front affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

Forecast: Cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides is expected over the regions of Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and the provinces of bohol and Lanao del Sur.Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over the rest of Visayas and of Mindanao. Cloudy skies with light rains is expectedover Cagayan Valley region and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevailover Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the entirearchipelago withmoderate to rough seas.

Forecast: Cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides is expected over the regions of Caraga, Davao and Soccsksargen.Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over Visayas and the rest of Mindanao. Cloudy skies with light rains is expected over the regions of Cagayan Valley, bicol and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the entire archipelago with moderate to rough seas.

AT 9:00 AM TODAY. A LOW PRESSURE AREA (LPA) WAS ESTIMATED BASED ON ALL AVAILABLE DATA AT 390 KM SOUTHEAST OF MINDANAO (4.5°N, 128.3°E) (OUTSIDE PAR). THE TROUGH OF THIS LPA WILL BRING MODERATE TO OCCASIONALLY HEAVY RAINS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE REGIONS OF CARAGA, DAVAO AND SOCCSKSARGEN. RESIDENTS IN THESE AREAS ARE ALERTED AGAINST POSSIBLE FLASHFLOODS AND LANDSLIDES. MEANWHILE, LIGHT TO MODERATE RAINS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL PREVAIL OVER THE REST OF MINDANAO.
