2017 Updates:House junks President Rodrigo Duterte Impeachment Case.

House justice committee voted to reject the impeachment complaint filed against President Rodrigo Duterte.

The committee members said that the impeachment complaint filed by opposition lawmaker and Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano, an ex-soldier and former coup plotter was sufficient in form but insufficient in substance.

Out of the 50 members of the House justice committee, 42 were present during Monday's hearing. The voting was as follows:

Complaint was sufficient in form: 41 votes
Complaint was insufficient in substance: 42 votes

Complaints comprises the following:

1. Davao Death Squad
2. The ongoing bloody war against drugs
3. Duterte's supposed unexplained wealth
4. The "ghost" employees hired by the Davao City government when he was mayor
5. The President's approach to the sea row with China over the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) and Benham Rise

In effect: First impeachment complaint filed against the President has been dismissed by the committee.
