SYNOPSIS: (Issued 4:00 PM today) Tail-End of a Cold Front affecting Visayas. Northeast Monsoon affecting Luzon. As of today, there is no Tropical Cyclone within Philippine Area of Responsibility.
As of 2:00 PM, the low pressure area (LPA) is at distance of 1,145 km East of Mindanao. Expected to enter PAR tonight or tomorrow morning. Possible to become Tropical Depression in the new year and will be called "Agaton". Possible landfall between Eastern Visayas and CARAGA on January 01 afternoon or the next day morning.
Its possible landfall is over Eastern Visayas-Eastern Mindanao area between Monday afternoon to Tuesday early morning (1-2 January).
It has 50% possibility to become Tropical Depression (TD) and will be named "Agaton" on January 1, 2018 (Monday). Northeast Monsoon will bring Cloudy skies with scattered rains in places of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora and Quezon and Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Special Weather Outlook during the New Year HolidaysDecember 29, 2017 –January 02, 2018
The prevailing Northeast Monsoon and the Tail-End of Cold Front will affect most parts of Luzon and Eastern Visayas during the next 4 days. A Low Pressure Area (LPA) which may develop into Tropical Depression (TD) is expected to pass over Mindanao and some portion of the Visayas particularly in the southern area. This will bring moderate up to occasionally intense rains and gusty winds over the area along its path.
