TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING: "JOSIE"

THE LOW PRESSURE AREA WEST OF ILOCOS SUR HAS DEVELOPED INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION AND WAS NAMED "JOSIE”




Location of Eye/Center:At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression "JOSIE" was estimated based on all available data at 195 km West Northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur (18.0°N, 118.6°E).
Strength: Maximum winds of up to 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 60 km/h.
Movement: Moving Northeast Slowly
Forecast Positions/Outlook:· 24-Hour (Tomorrow morning): 25 km Southwest of Basco, Batanes (20.3°N,  121.8°E)
· 48-Hour (Monday morning): 510 km North Northeast of Basco, Batanes (24.9°N,  123.1°E)
· 72-Hour (Tuesday morning): 840 km North of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR) (28.0°N,  121.5°E)
· 96-Hour (Wednesday morning): 1,340 km North Northwest of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR) (31.7°N,  117.2°E)
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNAL
1 (30-60 kph  Expected in: 36 hours) Batanes, Northern Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Norte, northern portion of Ilocos Sur, Apayao and northern portion of Abra 
WEATHER FORECAST UPDATE
Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Zambales, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija. Residents of these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying and in mountainous areas are advised to take appropriate actions against possible floodings and landslide, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices and continue monitoring for updates. Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila, CALABARZON and the rest of Central Luzon.

Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the western seaboard of Central Luzon, especially in areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal #1.
