Tropical Cyclone: ALERT

ISSUED AT:11:00 AM, 18 July 2018 

THE LOW PRESSURE AREA EAST OF NORTHERN CAGAYAN HAS DEVELOPED INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION AND WAS NAMED "INDAY".


Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression "INDAY" was estimated based on all available data at 660 km East Southeast of Basco, Batanes (19.0 °N, 128.1 °E)
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph
Forecast Movement: moving East at 15
Forecast Positions: 24 Hour(Tomorrow morning): 805 km East of Basco, Batanes(20.3°N, 129.7°E)
48 Hour(Friday morning):845 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes(22.1°N, 129.9°E)
72 Hour(Saturday morning): 790 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR)(25.3°N, 127.6°E)
96 Hour(Sunday morning):965 km North of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR)(29.0°N, 123.4°E)

Weather Forecast Update: The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Tropical Depression "INDAY" will bring intermittent moderate to occasional heavy monsoon rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga and Bulacan. Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains is expected over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna and the rest of Central Luzon until Friday (20 July). Residents of these areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides, continue monitoring for updates, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices.

Sea travel is risky over the western seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon due to rough to very rough seas associated with the Southwest Monsoon.
"INDAY" may intensify into a Tropical Storm in the next 24 hours.
