PAGASA Public Weather Forecast Update for TYPHOON ROSITA as of 4:00 PM 28 October 2018.

Synopsis:  At 3:00 PM today, the eye of Typhoon "ROSITA" was located based on all available data at 760 km East of Aparri, Cagayan or 750 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (17.8 N, 128.8 E) with maximum sustained winds of up to 200 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 245 km/h. It is moving West at 20 km/h. Trough of the Typhoon affecting Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon. 


  • Possible hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals over the Eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon tonight (28 Oct.).
  • Moderate to heavy rains directly associated with the Typhoon is expected over Northern and Central Luzon starting tomorrow evening (29 Oct). Flooding and landslides are possible. Travel by land and sea is risky.
  • Possible raising TCWS #1 over Metro Manila by tomorrow evening (29 Oct)
  • Strong to very strong winds are expected to affect the Eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon starting Monday evening (29 Oct).
  • Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao.
  • Expected to make landfall over Isabela-Cagayan area by Tuesday morning(30 Oct).
  • Storm surge is possible over coastal areas of Isabela & Cagayan.
  • Everyone is advised to refrain from outdoor activities.
  • Possible exit PAR by Thursday (Nov.1)
  • Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Trough of TY.  Possible flash floods or landslides due to severe thunderstorms

Regional Weather Forecast



NCR: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of NCR-PRSD forecast area. Light to moderate winds coming from north to northwest will prevail and the coastal waters along these areas will be slight to rough while rough to very rough over the coast of Zambales, Bataan and Quezon including Polillo island.

Northern Luzon: Maulap na kalangitan na may mga mahinang pag-ulan ang inaasahan sa mga lalawigan ng Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, Mt. Province, Ifugao at Kalinga samantalang bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap na papawirin na may pulu-pulong mahihinang mga pag-ulan ang inaasahan sa Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan at Aurora dulot Hanging Amihan.

Southern Luzon: Bahagyang mapanganuron sundo sa mapanganuron na kalangitan na may pulo-pulong mga pag-uran o pagkikilat-pagdaguldol ang iiral sa Kabikulan, Norteng Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, asin Marinduque. Maluya sundo sa moderatong duros na haling Norte-Sirangan ang mamatian, na may banayad sundo sa moderatong pag-alon ning kadagatan.

VISAYAS: Visayas, Palawan, and  Occidental Mindoro will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.  Strong to gale force winds from the Northeast to Southwest will prevail over the eastern section of Visayas with rough to very rough seas. Meanwhile, light to moderate winds blowing from Northeast to Northwest  will prevail over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, and the rest of Visayas with light to moderate seas.

MINDANAO: Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to Localized thunderstorms. Surigao Provinces will have Strong to Gale Force winds coming from the Northwest to Southwest with rough to very rough seas. Elsewhere, Light to Moderate winds coming from the Northwest to Southwest and the coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
