PAGASA Public Weather Forecast Update for Tropical Depression "Samuel" as of 4:00 PM 19 November 2018.

Synopsis:  At 3:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "SAMUEL" was estimated based on all available data at 515 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (08.5 N, 131.0 E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 65 km/h. It is moving Northwest at 25 km/h. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

  • Possible raising of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) #1 over Northern Samar, Capiz, Iloilo and Guimaras in the next severe weather bulletin.
  • "SAMUEL" is expected to make landfall over the Eastern Visayas-Caraga area tomorrow afternoon or evening.

At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "SAMUEL" was estimated based on all available data at 505 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (08.6 °N, 130.9 °E)
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 65 km/h
Forecast Movement: Moving Northwest at 25 km/h
Forecast Positions:
24 Hour(Tomorrow afternoon): 195 km East of Maasin City, Southern Leyte(10.3°N, 126.6°E)
48 Hour(Wednesday afternoon):65 km East Southeast of Cuyo, Palawan(10.7°N, 121.6°E)

FORECAST WEATHER CONDITION



Moderate to heavy rains which may trigger flooding and landslides is expected over Caraga Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and the provinces of Negros Occidental, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin. Residents of these areas, especially those living near or in river channels, low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates.

Caraga, Eastern and Central Visayas, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin will experience rains with Gusty winds due to TD "SAMUEL".  Possible flash floods and landslides due to scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains.

Zamboanga Peninsula and Western Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rainshowers and thunderstorms due to TD "SAMUEL".  Possible flash floods and landslides due to scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains.

Bicol Region and rest of Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to TD "SAMUEL".  Possible flash floods and landslides due to scattered to widespread light to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to Northeast Monsoon.  No significant impact.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to Localized Thunderstorms.  Possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.
