HOW TO COMPUTE SSS MATERNITY BENEFIT 2025 [GUIDE]

HOW TO COMPUTE SSS MATERNITY BENEFIT 2025 [GUIDE/APPLICATION]

📌 Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the benefit, you must:

  • Have paid at least 3 monthly contributions within the ** 12 months immediately before the semester** of your childbirth or miscarriage.

  • If employed, you also must have submitted MAT‑1 notification to SSS via your employer. If self‑employed or voluntary, notify SSS directly via MySSS.

🧮 How the Benefit Is Computed

Step 1️⃣: Determine the “Semester of Contingency”

  • A semester is two consecutive quarters ending in the quarter of your expected delivery.

  • Example: If your EDD is August 2025 (3rd quarter), your semester of contingency is Q2–Q3 2025 (April–September), so the contribution window is April 2024–March 2025.

Step 2️⃣: Identify the Six Highest MSCs Within That 12-Month Period

  • MSC = Monthly Salary Credit (based on your monthly earnings) SEE TABLE HERE.

  • The maximum MSC considered is ₱20,000/month, even if you earn more.

Step 3️⃣: Compute Your Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC)

Step 4️⃣: Multiply ADSC by the Number of Compensable Days

  • 105 days for live childbirth (normal or cesarean)

  • 120 days if you're a solo parent (additional 15 days per RA 8972)

  • 60 days for miscarriage or emergency termination

ADSC = (Total of 6 highest MSCs) ÷ 180

✅ Sample Calculation

Let’s break it down with an example:

  • You had six months of maximum MSC of ₱20,000 during the contribution window.

  • Total MSC = ₱20,000 × 6 = ₱120,000

  • ADSC = ₱120,000 ÷ 180 = ₱666.67/day

Then:

  • Normal/Caesarean Delivery (105 days):
    ₱666.67 × 105 = ₱70,000

  • Solo Parent (120 days):
    ₱666.67 × 120 = ₱80,000

  • Miscarriage (60 days):
    ₱666.67 × 60 = ₱40,000

This aligns with official SSS limits: even if your salary is above ₱20,000, your maximum benefit is ₱70k (or ₱80k for solo parent). If your monthly salary is higher, your employer must pay the salary differential to cover the remaining days.
