NEWS| LTFRB requires GPS installation among Public Utility Buses (PUB)

Imagine if all our Public Utility Buses will be installed by GPS we didn't modernize only our transport system but also provide the commuters with reliable, convenient, and safe transportation services. 

Global Positioning System (GPS) Measurements

  • minimize road risk
  • check if the bus is within a limit
  • locate the position of the bus
  • check if the bus is on it's proper route based on the approved franchise
As mandated by LTFRB Memorandum Circular (MC) Nos. 2015-021 and 2015-026, all bus operators are required to install and register GPS devices on their units based on the following schedule:
  1. For provincial buses entering Metro Manila: on or before April 30, 2016
  2. For Metro Manila buses: May 1 to August 30, 2016
  3. For inter-regional buses not entering Metro Manila: September 1 to December 31, 2016
  4. For intra-regional buses: January 1 to April 30, 2017
Four (4) GPS devices have conformed with the technical specifications, as stated in MC Nos. 2015-013 and 2015-024.

Penalties

  • Failed to install = P5,000.00/unit
  • After 30 days grace period = P1,000.00/unit/month
Penalties on driver or operators found tampering with the devices.
  1. First Offence = P5,000.00
  2. Second Offence = P10,000.00
  3. Third Offense & Subsequent Offense = P15,000.00 + suspension of their certificate of public convenience (CPC) for 30 days.
