PAGASA Weather Update for TD "Henry" and Habagat as of 5:00 PM 16 July 218.

"HENRY" HAS INTENSIFIED SLIGHTLY AS IT MOVES CLOSER TO EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON.

SYNOPSIS: At 3:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "HENRY" was estimated based on all available data at 200 km East Southeast of Calayan, Cagayan (18.8 N, 123.3 E) with maximum sustained winds of 60 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 75 km/h. Moving West at 35 km/h. Southwest Monsoon affecting the western section of the country.


Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "HENRY" was estimated based on all available data at 180 km East Southeast of Calayan, Cagayan (18.8 °N, 123.1 °E)
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 60 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph
Forecast Movement: moving West at 35
Forecast Positions: 24 Hour(Tomorrow afternoon): 625 km West of Calayan, Cagayan (OUTSIDE PAR)(19.3°N, 115.5°E)
48 Hour(Wednesday afternoon):1,455 km West of Calayan, Cagayan (OUTSIDE PAR)(19.7°N, 107.6°E)

  • HENRY" is expected to totavese the Babuyan Islands this evening (16 July).
  • Occasional rains with gusty winds are expected over the areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) #1.
  • The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will continue to bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas, and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the rest of the county. Residents of these areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to continue monitoring for updates, coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides.
  • Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas under TCWS #1 and the western seaboard of Luzon due to moderate to rough seas associated with the approaching Tropical Depression and the Southwest Monsoon.

FORECAST WEATHER CONDITIONS
Batanes, northern portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, northern portion of Apayao, and northern portion of Ilocos Norte will experience rains with gusty winds due to TD. Possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate  with occasional heavy rains.

 Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas will experience Monsoon rains due to Southwest Monsoon. Possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate to at times heavy rains

The rest of the country  will experience Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon. Possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate to at times heavy rains.
