Synopsis:  TROPICAL DEPRESSION "SAMUEL" HAS SLIGHTLY WEAKENED AND IS NOW IN THE VICINITY OF DARAM, SAMAR. At 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression SAMUEL was estimated based on all available data in the vicinity of Calbiga, Samar Province (11.6⁰N, 125.1⁰E) with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. It is moving West Northwest at 25 km/h. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern Luzon.

FORECAST WEATHER CONDITION



  • Moderate to heavy rains which may trigger flooding and landslides is expected over Western Visayas, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, and southern Quezon. Residents of these areas, especially those living near or in river channels, low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates.
  • Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the areas under TCWS #1, as well as the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon.

NCR: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of NCR-PRSD forecast area. Light to occasionally strong winds coming from northeast to east will prevail and becoming northwest over Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales and Bataan. The coastal waters along these areas will be slight to occasionally rough. 

VISAYAS: Visayas, Palawan and Occidental Mindoro will have rains with gusty winds due to TD Samuel. Strong to very strong wind from the Northeast to Northwest will prevail over areas under TCWS#1 with rough to very rough seas. The rest of Visayas will experience moderate to strong winds from the northeast to northwest with moderate to rough seas.

SOUTHERN LUZON: Bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap na kalangitan na may pulo-pulong mga pag-ulan o pagkidlat-pagkulog ang iiral sa  Kabikulan, Hilagang Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon at Marinduque. Mahina hanggang sa katamtamang hangin mula sa Hilagang Silangan ang iiral, na may banayad hanggang sa katamtamang pag-alon ng karagatan.

MINDANAO: CARAGA, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Tropical Depression “Samuel”. Rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds coming from the Northeast to Northwest and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
