PAGASA Weather Forecast Update for New LPA and Typhoon "Hanna" as of 5:00 PM 08 August 2019.

Synposis: At 3:00 PM today, the eye of TYPHOON "HANNA" {LEKIMA} was located based on all available data at°505 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (23.7°N, 125.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 230 km/h. It is moving North°Northwest at°20 km/h. Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 105°km West of°Sinait, Ilocos Sur°(17.7°N, 119.4°E). Southwest Monsoon affecting the whole country.

"HANNA" CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY AS IT THREATENS THE SOUTHERN RYUKYU ISLANDS.
  • The outer rainbands of "HANNA" will bring moderate to heavy rains and gusty winds over Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands today and tomorrow (09 August).
  • Today, moderate to heavy monsoon rains will be experienced over Metro Manila, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, northern portions of Palawan (including Calamian and Cuyo Islands), Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, and Bulacan. Light to moderate with at times heavy monsoon rains will prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Western Visayas.
  • Tomorrow (09 August), moderate to heavy monsoon rains may affect Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro. Light to moderate with at times heavy monsoon rains may be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.
  • Residents in the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to floods and rain-induced landslides, are advised to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.
  • Gusty conditions will continue over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.
  • Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of areas under TCWS #1, the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas, and the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao due to potentially rough sea conditions.
  • "HANNA" is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow morning.
  • At 10:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area was estimated at 180 km West Northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan (16.7°N, 118.8°E). Based on all available data, this weather disturbance remains less likely to develop into a Tropical Depression and is expected to dissipate within 24 to 48 hours.
  • At 10:00 AM today, Typhoon "KROSA" was estimated at 1,930 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (OUTSIDE PAR) (22.0°N, 140.5°E) with maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 160 km/h. It is moving northwest slowly and is not expected to enter the PAR.
