PAGASA Weather Forecast Update for Tropical Depression "PEPITO" as of 4:00 AM 20 October 2020.


Issued at 4:00 AM, 20 OCTOBER 2020

SYNOPSIS: At 3:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "PEPITO" was estimated based on all available data at 430 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (13.7°N, 128.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 20 km/h. Northeasterly Surface Windflow affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

Track: "PEPITO" will move west-northwestward towards the Northern-Central Luzon area. The center of this tropical cyclone is forecast to make landfall over the coast of Aurora-Isabela area tonight, cross the Luzon landmass, and emerge over the West Philippine Sea tomorrow morning
Intensity: "PEPITO" may reach tropical storm category before making landfall. However, there remains a possibility that this tropical cyclone makes landfall as a tropical depression. After crossing the landmass of Luzon, "PEPITO" is forecast to intensify and may reach severe tropical storm category by Thursday.

FORECAST WEATHER CONDITIONS

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Rizal, the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, the extreme northern portion of Camarines Norte, and Catanduanes will experience rains with Gusty winds due to Trough of TD. Possible flash floods or landslides due light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

The rest of Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will experience Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Northeasterly Surface Windflow / Trough of TD. Possible flash floods or landslides due light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

The rest of the country will experience  Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon / Trough of TD. Possible flash floods or landslides due light to moderate with at times heavy rains.
