TROPICAL DEPRESSION "SALOME"

ISSUED AT:11:00 PM, 09 November 2017

SALOME HAS INTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL STORM WHILE TRAVERSING BATANGAS - CAVITE AREA.
  • Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 250 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.
  • Residents under TCWS #2 and #1 as well as Central Luzon are advised to be alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
  • Sea travel is risky over areas under TCWS #2 and #1 due to rough to very rough seas.
  • Salome is expected to exit landmass tomorrow morning and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday morning.
Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm "SALOME" was estimated based on all available data including Tagaytay and Subic doppler radar In the vicinity of Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas (14.0 °N, 121.1 °E)
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 110 kph
Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 25 kph

Location of eye/center: At 7:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "SALOME" was estimated based on all available data at In the vicinity of Bulsa, Bayan ng San Juan (13.7 °N, 121.4 °E)
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph
Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 25 kph

  • Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 250 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.
  • Residents under TCWS #1 as well as Central Luzon are advised to be alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
  • Salome is expected to be closer in Metro Manila at around 8-12 pm tonight which will bring moderate to heavy rains with occasional gusty winds.
  • Sea travel is risky over areas under TCWS #1 due to moderate to rough seas.
  • Salome is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning.

Synopsis: At 3:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "SALOME"was estimated based on all available data at 65km Southwest of Pili, Camarines Sur(13.1N, 122.9E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 25 km/h.

ISSUED AT:2:00 PM, 09 November 2017 

SALOME IS NOW IN THE VICINITY OF LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY AND IS HEADING TOWARDS SOUTHERN QUEZON-MARINDUQUE AREA.
  • Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 250 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.
  • Residents of areas under TCWS #1 as well as the eastern section of Central Luzon are advised to be alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
  • Sea travel is risky over areas under TCWS #1 due to moderate to rough seas.
  • Salome is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning.

Location of eye/center: At 1:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "SALOME" was estimated based on all available data at 50 km West Southwest of Legazpi City, Albay (13.0 °N, 123.3 °E)
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph
Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 25 kph

VISAYAS: Northern Samar, Samar, Biliran province

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph
Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 25 kph
SALOME HAS SLIGHTLY INTENSIFIED AS IT CROSSES TICAO PASS.

THE LOW PRESSURE AREA EAST OF CATARMAN, NORTHERN SAMAR HAS DEVELOPED INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION AND WAS NAMED "SALOME".


Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 200 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

Salome is expected to traverse Sibuyan sea today.

Residents of areas under TCWS #1 as well as the rest of Bicol region, rest of CALABARZON, Metro Manila and the eastern section of Central Luzon are advised to be alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Sea travel is risky over areas under TCWS #1 due to moderate to rough seas.

Salome is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning.

Synopsis: At 3:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA)was estimated based on all available data at 85km East of Catarman, Northern Samar(12.4N, 125.4E). Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

FORECAST WEATHER CONDITIONS

Bicol region and Samar provinces, Metro Manila, the rest of Visayas, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and the province of Aurora will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to LPA.

IMPACTS

Possible flashfloods and landslide.Possible lightning, strong winds and scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains.
