THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION EAST OF MINDANAO INTENSIFIES INTO A TROPICAL STORM WITH INTERNATIONAL NAME "PHANFONE".
"PHANFONE" has no direct effect on any part of the country at the moment. It may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between tonight and tomorrow (23 December) morning and will be named "URSULA". The Tropical Storm is forecast to make landfall over Eastern Visayas-Caraga area on Tuesday (24 December) evening. Then, it will traverse the Visayas area. Beginning Tuesday (24 December), moderate to occasionally heavy rains may prevail over Visayas and northeastern Mindanao. The international name "PHANFONE" (meaning: an animal) was contributed by Laos.
REGIONAL FORECAST:
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Easterlies. Possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorm.
