PAGASA Severe Weather update for Tropical Storm-Vinta, December 23, 2017.

DOST-PAGASA TRACKING FORECAST FOR TROPICAL STORM VINTA  FOR TODAY 23, DECEMBER 2017. The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next Severe Weather Bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.

"VINTA" MAINTAINED ITS STRENGTH AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARD SOUTHERN PALAWAN - ISSUED AT:11:00 AM, 23 December 2017 

  • Weather Condition: Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Palawan, while scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains is expected over Bicol region, Visayas, Mindanao, and the rest of MIMAROPA within 24 hours.   • Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under TCWS, the southern seaboard of Mindoro provinces and the western seaboard of Aklan and Antique due to the Tropical Storm
  • PAR Exit: Expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility between tomorrow (24 December) morning and afternoon.
  • Location: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm "VINTA" was estimated based on all available data at 245 km West Northwest of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (07.7 °N, 120.0 °E) with Maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 95 kph moving West at 20 kph.

"VINTA" CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY AS IT MOVES TOWARDS THE DIRECTION OF SOUTHERN PALAWAN. - issued AT:8:00 AM, 23 December 2017.

  • Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 over Zamboanga Provinces has been lifted.
  • Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under TCWS, the southern seaboard of Mindoro provinces and the western seaboard of Aklan and Antique due to the Tropical Storm.
  • Expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility between tomorrow (24 December) morning and afternoon.
  • LocatioAt 7:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm "VINTA" was estimated based on all available data at 210 km West Northwest of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur or 285 km Southeast of Puerto Princesa City (07.9 °N, 120.5 °E) with Maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 95 kph moving West at 20 kph.

"VINTA" HAS SLIGHTLY INTENSIFIED AS IT CONTINUES TO TRACK WESTWARD OVER THE SULU SEA - issued 5:00 AM today.

Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS), the southern seaboard of Mindoro provinces and the western seaboard of Aklan and Antique due to the Tropical Storm.

At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm "VINTA" was estimated based on all available data at 165 km Northwest of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (07.9 °N, 121.0 °E) with Maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph moving West at 20 kph.

PAR Exit: Expected after 48 Hour(Monday evening):390 km Southwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)(8.9°N, 111.3°E)
